Our services

South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) provides a range of NHS services designed to ensure safe, effective, and timely care for the communities we serve. As part of our commitment to openness and transparency under the Freedom of Information Act, we publish general information about the services we offer in line with the ICO Model Publication Scheme. [ico.org.uk]
This section gives an overview of our main service areas and how we support patients and the wider health and care system.

Emergency and Urgent Care Services
We provide emergency and urgent care responses to people who need clinical assessment or treatment. Our teams assess the needs of callers and ensure that an appropriate clinical response is arranged. These responses may include dispatching ambulance resources, providing clinical advice by phone, or working with other health partners to direct patients to the most suitable service. [england.nhs.uk]
Our aim is to deliver safe, patient‑centred care while ensuring resources are used effectively to meet the needs of our population.

Clinical Advice and Assessment
Specially trained staff provide telephone‑based clinical assessment and advice, helping callers receive the right care at the right time. This may include self‑care guidance, referral to another healthcare professional, or arranging a face‑to‑face response by one of our clinical teams. [england.nhs.uk]
Providing advice over the phone supports patients who do not require emergency treatment and helps reduce unnecessary trips to hospital.

Partnership Working
We work closely with GPs, community nursing teams, mental health services, and other health and social care partners to ensure patients can be referred to the most appropriate service for their needs. This collaboration helps reduce avoidable hospital attendance and supports integrated care delivery across the region. [england.nhs.uk]

Public Information and Community Support
As part of our role, we provide public information on first aid, wellbeing, and how to access emergency or urgent care appropriately. We also work with local communities to promote safety, prevention, and early support initiatives. [england.nhs.uk]

Commitment to Transparency
Under SECAmb’s Publication Scheme, information about our services must be made available proactively to help the public understand what we do and how we operate. The ICO expects NHS organisations to publish accessible, general descriptions of the services they offer, including guidance and information for the public. [ico.org.uk]
This page forms part of that commitment by providing a high‑level overview of the services we deliver.
