South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) has welcomed an announcement that paramedic students will get £5,000 support payment each year from September 2020.

SECAmb Chief Executive Philip Astle said: “We welcome this announcement as there is a real need to expand the paramedic workforce nationally. As demand for ambulance services continues to grow it is vital that we continue to attract new future paramedics to this challenging but highly-rewarding career. We hope that this new £5,000 annual maintenance grant will encourage even more people to consider embarking on a career serving their community as a paramedic.”
