Trust moves out of REAP level 5

Following a review of the Trust’s current REAP
level, the executive team gave its support to the senior
operational management team’s recommendation to move from REAP
level 5 to 4 with immediate effect.

The Trust had been operating at REAP level 5
since Thursday, 24 March, following significant pressures placed on
EOCs and A&E services and concerns regarding demand over the
extended Easter bank holiday.

While acknowledging challenges still being
faced with handover delays at hospitals across the region, in the
past week activity has been within forecast and there has also been
evidence showing a reduction in patient acuity levels.

The upcoming strike action by junior doctors,
which will see them withdraw emergency cover between  08.00
and 17.00 on 26 and 27 April, is a concern for the Trust and as a
result the senior operational management team will be keeping the
situation under close review.

The senior management team would like to take
this opportunity to thank staff for their continued hard work and
commitment over this period.
