South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb)
is appealing to anyone with information to come forward after
thieves forced entry into Sheppey Ambulance Station and stole
medical equipment and drugs overnight (25-26 July).
It is the second time the station has been targeted following an
incident in June. It also follows a spate of incidents across the
Trust’s Kent, Surrey and Sussex region.
On each occasion vital life-saving equipment including Lifepaks
– manually operated defibrillators and diagnostic machines – have
been taken. In the latest incident, three Lifepak were taken from
Sheppey Ambulance Station along with a number of pouches of
prescription-only drugs.
Anyone with information is urged to come forward. SECAmb is also
asking the public to report any suspicious activity to police
immediately. If anyone discovers any medicine, which could have
potentially been discarded by the thieves, they are urged not to
handle it and again to immediately contact police.
SECAmb Executive Director of Operations Joe Garcia said: “Lives
have once again been put at risk as a result of this incident. We
are working with police following the theft from Sheppey and with
police across our region on what appears to be a continued and
targeted campaign against the Trust. We would urge anyone with
information whatsoever to contact police immediately.”
