South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) is pleased to announce that our Council of Governors have today (Wednesday 5 February 2025) appointed Michael Whitehouse as our new Trust Chair.
This appointment follows Usman Khan’s decision to stand down from the role at the beginning of March 2025 to take up a new Executive role at NHS London.
In December 2024 we announced that we had begun to work with our colleagues at South Central Ambulance Service to explore creating a group model.
Michael’s appointment will therefore be for an initial 12-month period to ensure continuity while we await the outcome of this work.
Lead Governor, Andrew Latham said: “On behalf of the Council of Governors, we are very pleased to appoint Michael into the role of Chair. He has extensive leadership experience of both the Trust and the NHS and will ensure continuity and stability to the Board whilst we continue to implement our forward strategy for the benefit of those we serve.”
SECAmb Chief Executive, Simon Weldon, said: “During my time at SECAmb, I have been impressed with Michael’s clarity of thought and commitment, and the leadership he has shown as Deputy Chair and Chair of our Audit Committee. I would like to thank him for taking on this role and am looking forward to working closely with him.”
