South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) is proud that Sussex Paramedic, Steph Meech, has been elected to the position of Deputy Chair of the National Ambulance LGBT+ Network.

Steph, a Paramedic Practitioner and Operational Team Leader, who works out of Polegate, took up the position this month following a decade of active involvement in the network, which was launched at Brighton and Hove Pride in 2015.

She has previously served as the network’s Trans Awareness Lead and has also held Chair and Deputy Chair positions of the Trust’s own Pride in SECAmb staff network.

Steph will serve as deputy alongside new Chair, James Pearson, from South Western Ambulance Service for a period of four years.

Steph said: “This is a role I am incredibly proud to step into. My involvement in the national network and with Pride in SECAmb has helped shape my passion for inclusion and advocacy across the ambulance service.

“I look forward to continuing to raise awareness of the work the national network does in supporting LGBT+ colleagues across the sector and would like to thank everyone for their continued support.”
