A South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb)
paramedic is taking up the charity challenge to cycle the
Prudential Ride London to Surrey 100 on 31 July.
Ambulance paramedic Stuart Loughrey and his father Graham
will be raising money for the Woking Sam Beare hospice, after the
hospice cared for their friend Barry who died at the age of 49 in
 December 2015.
Brentford Football Club supporter Stuart, who
works as a paramedic out of Farnborough, is hoping to raise £1200
 for the hospice.
“Our good friend Barry was diagnosed with lung
cancer and his initial diagnosis was that he only had three years
to live,” said Stuart. “He became very involved with the hospice
which offered him and his family amazing support throughout the
duration of his treatment but after tough number of months
undergoing chemotherapy, the cancer spread and he sadly lost his
 life.”
Far from being experienced cyclists, taking on
the gruelling 100 mile-long route through the capital and into the
challenging Surrey countryside, will be a test of perseverance for
 both men.
Stuart added: “We have been training pretty
hard around our work commitments and aim to be in fairly decent
shape to finish in good time!  Any support we can get would be
 wonderful!”
Anyone able to support Stuart and Graham meet
their £1200 target can donate on his Just Giving Page:

For many patients with a life-limiting or
terminal condition, palliative hospice care offers a comfortable
and supportive environment.  Its care helps patients manage
pain and improves the quality of life for both the patient and
 their loved ones.
