South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) has appointed a new Independent Non-Executive Director.

Paul Brocklehurst took up his position on the Trust’s Board of Directors on 1 May 2021 and will serve a three-year term of office.

Paul, from Bexhill, East Sussex, has more than 25 years’ board-level experience, most recently as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. He has spent more than a decade as a CIO in local authorities and has also worked with numerous ‘blue chip’ companies in the private sector.

Paul joins SECAmb to provide scrutiny and support in the important and growing area of strategic digital and IT development.

SECAmb Chair, David Astley said: “On behalf of the Trust Board I’d like to formally welcome Paul to the team. He is an experienced CIO with an in-depth understanding of delivery, governance, risk management and internal controls. He brings extensive knowledge including in technology to the Trust. I look forward to working closely with him over the coming years.”

Paul will be joining the Trust’s Finance and Investment Committee which scrutinises operational and financial performance, including investment decisions, and ensures adequate planning and oversight of strategic programmes requiring effective IT and technology infrastructure.

Paul said: “The work of SECAmb is vitally important to the delivery of excellent healthcare to patients. I am delighted to be joining the SECAmb team where I hope to use my experience to make a positive difference.”
