The Trust is seeking public support by urging
people to seek alternatives to calling 999 if their emergency isn’t
 very serious or life-threatening.
The Trust continues to experience very high
levels of demand and is currently only able to send ambulances to
the most seriously ill or life-threatening emergencies.
As a result, if your emergency is not
life-threatening and you call 999 you will be asked to seek
alternatives or make your own way to hospital if possible.
Trust’s Gold Commander, Chris Stamp said: “We
are extremely busy at the moment and need to take action to ensure
that we provide timely responses to people who have
 life-threatening conditions.
“This will mean that if you call 999 and it is
not deemed life-threatening or very serious, you will be asked to
find alternatives and will not be sent an ambulance.
“We appreciate that this is not ideal but we
need to ensure that we are doing all we can for those who need us
the most and would ask for the public’s understanding and support
 during this time.”
If you think you can find alternatives to
calling 999, such as speaking to your GP practice for advice or
make your own way to hospital, then the Trust would urge you to do
 so at this time.
