Pay Gap Reports

At South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb), we are committed to creating a fair, inclusive and equitable workplace where all colleagues are valued and supported to thrive.

Pay gap reporting helps us to understand differences in average pay between different groups of staff. It is an important tool in identifying inequalities, understanding their causes, and taking meaningful action to address them.

What are Pay Gap Reports?

Pay gap reports measure the difference in average earnings between groups of employees. At SECAmb, we focus on:

  • Gender Pay Gap – the difference in average pay between men and women
  • Ethnicity Pay Gap – the difference in average pay between White staff and staff from ethnic minority backgrounds
  • Disability Pay Gap – the difference in average pay between disabled and non-disabled staff

These reports do not compare individuals doing the same job, but instead highlight patterns across the organisation, such as representation at different pay bands or roles

Why are these reports important?

Understanding our pay gaps allows us to:

  • Identify where inequalities may exist within our workforce
  • Better understand the experiences of different staff groups
  • Inform targeted actions to improve equity, inclusion and career progression
  • Support delivery of our wider Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategy

Statutory Requirements

Gender Pay Gap reporting is a statutory requirement for organisations of our size under UK legislation.

While Ethnicity and Disability Pay Gap reporting are not currently mandatory, SECAmb is committed to transparency and voluntarily publishes this information from 2025 to support our ambition of becoming a more inclusive employer.

Our Commitment

We use the insights from our pay gap reports alongside other workforce data, such as the NHS Staff Survey, Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) and Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES), to drive meaningful change.

We are committed to:
  • Reducing inequalities in pay and progression
  • Increasing representation across all levels of the organisation
  • Creating an inclusive culture where everyone has equal opportunity to succeed
