or NHS 111 hero in a new award to be presented at SECAmb’s annual
The People’s Hero Award gives the public across the region the

lasting impression on themselves or their family in the last
Nominations will be accepted for anyone who works for the
ambulance service as well as NHS 111 in Kent and Sussex. A call
taker may have been a calm and reassuring voice at the other end of
the line in a crisis or an ambulance crew may have delivered expert
From call takers to dispatchers, community first responders to
critical care paramedics, every role at SECAmb has a vital part to
play in ensuring patients receive the care they need.
SECAmb Chief Executive Philip Astle said: “Our staff awards
provide us with the opportunity to showcase just a small number of
the thousands of examples of great work taking place day-in,
day-out, across our region. By introducing this new award we want
the public to play their part in recognising excellence.
“The care provided by the ambulance service is wide ranging. A
nomination may focus on the clinical skill delivered at the scene
of an incident or over the phone. It may highlight the compassion
of our staff or be an example of them going above and beyond what
was expected of them.
“While there can only be one winner, and it will be a tough job
to whittle the nominations down, we’ll ensure every nomination
results in all staff involved receiving official praise.”
To ensure SECAmb can track down the member of staff we’ll need
as much information as possible including, if known, the name of
the patient, where and when the incident took place and why you
think the member of staff deserves to win.
