In a move that puts inclusion at the heart of care, the Trust is launching its Patient and Public Engagement Strategy for 2025–2029, and, for the first time, an easy read version is being published alongside it.

This is the beginning of a new five-year journey to meaningfully collaborate with our patients and the public in the communities we serve. The strategy has been designed to improve patient engagement, involvement, and satisfaction across the Trust, with a focus on integrating feedback, enhancing communication, and promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion through flexible and accessible ways to get involved.

The accessible version of the document was developed in partnership with an external organisation and co-produced with a dedicated champions group made up of individuals with lived experience, including those with learning disabilities, neurodivergence, and varied communication needs.

In the easy read document, readers will find out more about how the Trust plans to continue engaging with members of the public, listening to feedback, and improving the way care is delivered. It’s about making services better by working together with the communities they serve.

The full easy read strategy is now available on our website and marks another step forward in our commitment to making sure every voice is heard and understood. You can access it by clicking here.

“We’re really proud of this strategy and the accompanying easy read version because it reflects the voices of people who are too often left out of important conversations. Co-producing it with individuals who have lived experience has helped us learn, adapt, and make something that’s truly inclusive. Listening to our communities isn’t just a box-ticking exercise, it’s how we deliver better, more compassionate care for everyone.” said Jo Turner, Deputy Chief Nurse.
