We’re coming to the end of this year’s #30Days30Ways campaign which SECAmb has been supporting, highlighting throughout September how to get more ’emergency ready’ and build community resilience.
Today’s theme is about volunteering. As well as being a great way to meet and connect with others, learn new skills and make a real difference, volunteering provides a solid foundation for building community resilience.
Our Community First Responders are volunteer members of their community who are trained to respond to emergency calls in conjunction with SECAmb. They are able to offer life-saving first aid further increasing a patient’s chances of survival.
As they respond in the local areas where they live and work they are able to attend the scene of an emergency within a few minutes, and often before the emergency service arrives.
“We are fortunate to have nearly 500 volunteers within SECAmb who enhance the care we can provide to our patients, staff and communities on a daily basis. With both patient-facing and non-patient facing volunteer roles available, becoming an ambulance volunteer is a rewarding and valuable way to spend your time, and I’m grateful to all those who currently do so,” said Danny Dixon, Head of Community Resilience.
