A team of South East
Coast Ambulance Service staff will be lacing up their walking boots
to take on the Three Peaks Challenge this summer.
The team, made up of staff from Polegate and Paddock Wood, as
well as staff family from Gatwick Airport security, is raising
money for the charity-funded Pevensey Ward at Eastbourne District
General Hospital. The challenge will see them aim to scale Ben
Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours, including driving
time.
The team, who will begin their challenge on 11 June, chose to
raise funds for the ward after several colleagues and their
relatives were directly affected by cancer and some received
treatment on the ward.
Polegate Make Ready Centre Acting Operations Manager Matt
Templeman said: “We’re looking forward to what will be a tough
challenge. The team are currently training hard for this event, and
will be walking under the guidance of Mountain Leader (And
Operational Team Leader) Martyn Hall from our Polegate Make Ready
Centre. Over recent months, we have sadly seen a number of our
colleagues affected by cancer and we were keen to raise money for
such a vital specialist ward. Any support or donations would be
