Following the incident on the M25 in Surrey yesterday, we would like to thank the public for their patience and support.

SECAmb responded to a number of patients who are stranded in traffic on the motorway in Surrey following an earlier road traffic collision which resulted in lane closures.

The resulting congestion was severe and prolonged, with some vehicles stationary for several hours during yesterday’s Red Heat Alert.

Crews assessed and treated a number of patients of which more than 10 were conveyed to hospital, primarily with minor and heat-related conditions.

As this period of extreme weather continues, we urge anyone travelling to ensure they have access to fluids so they can stay hydrated and look after themselves and others.

Our service remains extremely busy. Please continue to use our 999 service for serious emergencies only and consider alternative healthcare options wherever possible.
