Our latest workforce equality reports show improvements in recruitment, career progression and workplace support, alongside continuing inequalities in some colleagues’ experiences.

The 2026 Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) and Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES) reports assess equality across our Trust and help identify where action is needed.

This year’s findings show improved recruitment outcomes for Global Majority colleagues, increased confidence in career progression and more colleagues reporting that they receive the support they need at work.

Improvements have also been recorded in workforce representation and reasonable adjustments. However, disparities remain in disciplinary outcomes, experiences of discrimination and access to opportunities. These findings will inform the next steps in our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Plan.

Ongoing work includes inclusive recruitment initiatives, leadership development through programmes such as ASCEND (with cohort five launching this October) and action to improve colleague experience. Staff networks will also continue to help colleagues raise concerns and inform decisions about workplace equality.

The reports offer an opportunity to review the impact of work across the Trust and focus further action on the areas where colleagues continue to experience barriers. You can access both reports on our website.
