We are approaching what is considered historically the height of
the flu season and national reports are showing an increase in flu
activity over the past two weeks.
The Department of Health has issued a letter given permission
for antiviral medicines to be prescribed to those patients
presenting with flu like symptoms which is always an indicator that
flu activity is worsening.
Staff are reminded of the need to protect themselves against the
flu as well as patients, family, friends and work colleagues from
the flu and the best way of achieving this is to have the flu
vaccine. We will continue to offer the vaccine to all staff
throughout the first two months of this year and below is a list of
local Flu Fighters that can be contacted to facilitate the
administration of the vaccine.
