This doctoral study aims to investigate real-world decision making of Paramedics and understand factors that contribute to care decisions of an acutely unwell child. The primary focus is to explore the child-parent-paramedic relationship and identify factors that alter decisions, such as age, emotion, experience, knowledge, or parental attitude.
In addition to participating in interviews on this topic in general, Paramedics trained in Study procedure may signpost participation to any eligible families that they attend using a QR code enabling their access to further information and consent forms. Consenting families and their attending Paramedic will then be invited to participate in separate interviews relating to their experiences of the encounter.
