A once-in-a-quarter-century Royal Marines ceremony at Windsor Castle saw Deputy Head of Operations, Gareth Williams, take part in a historic day of service and tradition.
On 5 June 2026, His Majesty The King presented new Colours to the Royal Marines in a rare ceremonial occasion held only once every 25 years. The event brought together serving personnel, veterans, senior military figures and invited guests to recognise the Corps’ enduring values, service and heritage.
Gareth, a Royal Marines Reservist, Chair of the Armed Forces Network and Deputy Head of Operations at Brighton Make Ready Centre supported the day in a VIP hosting role. His responsibilities included welcoming guests, providing information and helping ensure the smooth running of the event. Throughout the ceremony, he met veterans, senior military personnel and other attendees marking this significant milestone in Royal Marines history and even had the opportunity to see His Majesty The King during the proceedings.
Gareth said: “I felt privileged to have been involved in such a historic occasion, highlighting the pride shared by all those connected to the Royal Marines on a landmark day of ceremony and recognition.”
Alongside his Reservist duties, Gareth works full-time in operations and, while the two roles differ, he highlighted that teamwork, clear communication, professionalism and remaining calm under pressure are key in both positions.
