This International Paramedics Day, we are celebrating more than 1,900 paramedics across SECAmb and recognising the incredible contribution they make to patients every day.
This year’s theme, ‘Innovate and Integrate’, reflects a profession that continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of patients and healthcare systems.
SECAmb has a proud history of helping shape that evolution. We were the first ambulance service in the country to introduce critical care paramedics, pioneering an advanced clinical role that has become established across the sector. Alongside our critical care paramedics (CCPs), Advanced Paramedic Practitioners (APPs) and frontline paramedics, we continue to support a wide range of rewarding clinical career pathways.
Today, paramedics, who like doctors and nurses are registered healthcare professionals, are delivering care in more ways than ever before. As well as responding to emergency calls, paramedics are working in specialist and virtual care roles, including through our Pathways Clinical Consultation Support (PaCCS) trained paramedics, using their expertise to help patients access the right care at the right time.
As we continue to deliver our strategy and develop our workforce, we are looking at how we can build on these successes and create even more opportunities for paramedics in virtual and digitally enabled care.
Chief Paramedic, Jaqui Lindridge said: “By equipping our clinicians with the skills needed for the future, we can continue to provide excellent care for patients while offering exciting career opportunities for our people.”
International Paramedics Day is an opportunity to celebrate every paramedic across SECAmb and thank them for the professionalism, expertise and compassion they bring to the role every day.
