As demand on healthcare services continues to grow, Virtual Care plays a vital role in supporting our communities. By delivering care differently, we can help more patients access the support they need while ensuring our resources remain available for the most vulnerable. 

Our Roles

Band 6 Virtual Care Clinician

Provide virtual clinical assessment, care advice and planning for patients accessing the 999 call handling service, ensuring patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time. 

Band 7 Virtual Care Practitioner

Support the assessment and management of patients with greater complexity, uncertainty and clinical risk, while providing professional leadership, clinical supervision and support to colleagues working within the Trust’s Virtual Care model.  

What skills do you need to become a Virtual Care Clinician? 

• Clinical assessment – to safely assess patients and identify the appropriate care pathway.
• Communication – to build rapport, gather accurate information and provide clear advice to patients. 
• Decision making and problem solving – make confident, evidence based decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Risk management – recognise when urgent intervention or escalation is required. 
• Active listening – to pick up on verbal cues and understand patients’ needs without seeing them face-to-face.
• Adaptability and resilience – manage a varied caseload and changing priorities. 
• Teamworking – collaborate with multiple teams and partner organisations. 
• Organisation and prioritisation – to manage multiple patients and tasks safely and efficiently.
