CQC Quality and Risk Profile

We are pleased to share the latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection results for our Emergency & Urgent Care services and our Emergency Operations Centre (999 call handling), published in May 2026.

Both of our main services have now been rated ‘Good’ overall, showing significant improvement since the last inspections in 2022. This means patients can feel confident that we are delivering care that is safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led.

The CQC highlighted many positive areas, including:

  • A strong focus on patient safety and learning from incidents
  • Compassionate and professional staff providing patient‑centred care
  • Effective teamwork with other NHS and care services
  • Improved systems to make sure patients receive the right care at the right time.

While there are still areas for further improvement, we have already made changes to strengthen how services are managed and continue to focus on continuous improvement.

Our overall Trust rating remains ‘Requires Improvement’ until a further assessment of leadership is completed.

The most recent inspection results reflect the hard work of our staff and our continued commitment to providing high-quality care for the communities we serve.

What is the role of the CQC? 

The CQC monitors, inspects, and regulates health and social care services to ensure that the services being provided are: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.

Our rating is determined by the standards of our clinical practice and patient care, the processes around our decision-making, our core business systems, how well our policies and procedures are put into practice and how we address areas of concern. This information is gathered by the CQC inspection team through staff focus groups, senior manager interviews, stations visits, hospital visits, and feedback from staff and patients.
