The countdown is on as nine members of South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) prepare to take on The Big Half, putting months of training to the test while raising vital funds for SECAmb Charity.
On Sunday, 6 September, thousands of runners will take part in the iconic half marathon, with some of SECAmb’s colleagues joining them to raise money for projects that make a real difference to patients, staff and communities across the South East.
The SECAmb team is made up of Clinical Education Practitioner Peter Stone, HART Operational Team Leader Hadley Bourner, Trainee Associate Ambulance Practitioners Max McCarthy and Kate Forster, Clinical Scheduling Officer Nura Karpowitsch, Communications Officer Emma Dewsbury, Make Ready Technical Team Leader/ Supervisor Nathan Ross, Operational Team Leader Richard Murphy and Wellbeing Co-ordinator Karl Pinch.
For the team, race day represents months of training and preparation. Some are taking on their first half marathon, while others are adding another race to their running achievements. But they all have one shared goal – completing The Big Half while raising as much money as possible for SECAmb Charity.
Their fundraising will help support the charity’s work across the South East, including funding life-saving equipment, CPR training, public access defibrillators and community projects.
With race day fast approaching, you can get behind Team SECAmb by making a donation through their JustGiving page.
Every donation, no matter how large or small, can help make a difference. For example:
- £10 could help train a member of the public in CPR.
- £20 could support community engagement, helping more people learn life-saving skills.
- £56 could provide replacement defibrillator pads, returning a public access defibrillator to lifesaving status after it has been used.
- £400 could help provide a CPR training manikin, enabling more people to learn how to save a life.
- £900 could help fund a new public access defibrillator for a community that needs one.
Every mile our colleagues run and every donation they receive will help SECAmb Charity continue supporting life-saving work in our communities.
Good luck to Team SECAmb – we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way!
