SECAmb was represented at a special community Iftar gathering in Surrey held by the Epsom and Ewell Islamic Society on Sunday.

Advanced Paramedic Practitioners Kay Ayre and Jake Lean from Banstead joined the Head Imam, Joynal Ahmed, society chairman Abdul Mannan, the centre’s executive committee and congregation for the Iftar, the evening meal which breaks the daily fast observed during Ramadan.

Other guests from the wider community included the Mayor and local councillors, representatives from the fire service, and neighbours to the centre in Hook Road, Epsom.

The aim of the event was to bring together different parts of the community for this special occasion, providing an opportunity to build meaningful connections and strengthen social bonds.

Kay and Jake thanked the Epsom and Ewell Islamic Society for the warmth and hospitality they were shown.

“We sincerely appreciate you including us in your Ramadan traditions. It was an honour to share in the prayers, reflection, and joy of this blessed month,” they said.

Regarded as the holiest month of the year for Muslims, Ramadan is marked by fasting each day from dawn until sunset. The spiritual month provides an opportunity to develop self-discipline, increase charitable giving, and share love and compassion with the wider society.
