Statement on recruitment of Ambulance Group model CEO and Chair

Statement from Keith Willett,  South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) Chair & Michael Whitehouse, South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) Chair:

Following the announcement on 29 October 2025 that SCAS and SECAmb are joining forces to create the first Ambulance Group model, we are pleased to confirm that recruitment for the Group Chair and Group CEO roles is now under way.

This week, SCAS CEO David Eltringham and SECAmb CEO Simon Weldon have both shared with their staff that they will not be applying for the Group CEO role.

Both leaders remain wholly committed to guiding their organisations through the winter period and supporting a smooth, well-managed transition as the new Group model evolves.

Their continued focus and leadership will help ensure stability and momentum as we take this significant step forward together.
