Nominations are now open for the 2025 Council of Governors elections, offering Foundation Trust members the opportunity to play an active role in shaping the future of our ambulance service.

Becoming a governor is a chance to represent the voices of our patients, staff, and local communities while helping to ensure the Trust continues to provide high-quality care and put patients at the heart of everything we do. Those interested in standing for election have until Friday, 7 November at 17:00 to submit their nomination.

This year, elections are being held in the following constituencies:

  • 1 seat – Brighton & East Sussex
  • 2 seats – Surrey
  • 1 seat – West Sussex
  • 1 seat – Kent
  • 2 seats – Operational Staff

Anyone who isn’t currently a member can still stand for election by joining as a Foundation Trust member before submitting their nomination.

Our governors play a vital role in representing the views of our members, staff, and the public, ensuring the Trust continues to put patients at the heart of everything we do. The Council of Governors also appoints the Chair, Non-Executive Directors, and the Trust’s external auditor. It is regularly informed of the Trust’s plans and priorities, helping ensure we are open, accountable, and focused on providing the best possible care for our communities.

The Council is made up of 24 governors in total, 13 publicly elected, four staff-elected, and seven appointed from partner organisations we work closely with.

Following the close of nominations, voting will open on 24 November at 09:00 and will close on 17 December at 17:00.

To stand for election, you’ll need to request a nomination form or complete one online. Prospective governors should also provide a short statement (maximum 250 words) explaining why they wish to stand and what experience or skills they would bring to the role.
