New parents from Seaford, Amanda Feast and Phill Stevenson, recently reunited with the ambulance team that helped deliver their first baby boy at home.

Now four-month-old, Phoenix, Amanda and Phill recently visited South East Coast Ambulance Service’s (SECAmb’s) Polegate Make Ready Centre where they reunited with the ambulance team that helped bring their first baby into the world – Critical Care Paramedic, Richard Vaughan, Student Paramedic Practitioner, Ashleigh Jones, Newly Qualified Paramedic, Caleb King and Trainee Associate Ambulance Practitioner, Jordan Roberts.

On 26 May 2025, having gone into labour, Amanda was discharged from the hospital to have her planned home birth. However, as the couple arrived home from the hospital, baby Phoenix’s arrival was imminent, and Phill dialled 999 for assistance.

Caleb and Jordan arrived first on scene, closely followed by Ashleigh and Richard who helped deliver baby Phoenix safely at Amanda and Phill’s home.

Amanda said: “Thank you to all the team that helped deliver our baby boy. Their support, kindness and expertise meant Phoenix was born happy and healthy at home and little things like letting me pick him up and cut his cord have given me such a positive view of birth. They have helped me feel ready to be a mum and made Phoenix’s birth so special which we will be forever grateful for.”

Ashleigh commented: “It was lovely to meet Amanda, Phill and baby Phoenix again and hear how they are getting on, sounds like they're all thriving!

“We don’t often get to attend home births so it’s quite special when you get to be part of bringing a new little human into the world, and it's even better when we get to see them again a few months on. I hope we will have the chance to see them again in the future.”

Caleb added: “This was first baby I have helped deliver and it was great that we could help provide some reassurance to Amanda and Phill and help deliver Phoenix safely and healthily at their home – it’s a real reminder of the difference we make to people in their time of need.”
