Violence against Women and Children
Ambulance crews are in a good position to
identify people who have suffered violence and abuse and point them
towards appropriate services. SECAmb is part of a national
taskforce looking at how health services can better care for and
support victims of violence. As part of this project, we held three
workshops in September and October 2010 where more than one hundred
healthcare professionals, social workers, police officers and other
professionals working with victims of violence came together with
SECAmb staff to think about how the ambulance service can best
help. We also conducted surveys with survivors of violence. The
final report and appendices, including the recommendations from the
workshops, are now available to download. The recommendations will
soon be presented to the project team, and learning fed back to the
national taskforce and other ambulance services.
