Audio downloads
Welcome to our audio first aid centre where we have created
several small MP3 files which can be downloaded on to your
iPod or any other MP3 player. So, wherever your iPod goes the
advice will go with you!
These files came about because one of our paramedics, Steve
Rutland from Hove realised that if somebody were to collapse in
front of him he would know exactly what to do to even though he was
carrying no equipment. He then thought that he might be able to
help other people to be more effective in an emergency if they
could have ready access to good advice at any time.
And so Stuart's idea for making audio files packed with good
advice and available to download free of charge was born. He had no
idea how popular his idea would be. Within weeks of the launch we
logged thousands of downloads and received feedback from all over
the world. There has been a steady take-up ever since.
A few points to bear in mind:
- These audio files are not meant to be a substitute for a first
aid course. If you can spare the time take a course with our own
Training Services, St John Ambulance or British Red Cross
- Once you have the files on your player listen to them from time
to time. This will bring two benefits: you will be more likely to
find them quickly in an emergency if you have been accessing them
regularly, and you will keep yourself refreshed on what to do in an
emergency
- The files are copyright but please feel free to distribute
them, in the original format, to as many people as possible.
