The elections for Brighton and Hove have now concluded and the new elected governor is

Jean Gaston-Perry.

Jean says, "My interest in SECAmb was sparked by the life-saving service I received, three times, by ambulance crews. As a Governor I will challenge procedures to ensure the service remains first class and aim to improve public engagement with the Trust.

I cared for my mother and husband, both with cancer and, as a single mother of three, all under seven when their father died, my work was varied to fit in with their upbringing. I worked in public relations, sales and with various voluntary organisations, including the Samaritans, and in the community as a nurse carer. All these experiences lead me in retirement to become involved in working to improve dementia, the care and dignity of the elderly and other services.

Currently I sit on various committees including East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust Age Steering Group, the RSCH Cardiac Involvement Group and the Advisory Group of PANICOA (Prevention of Abuse & Neglect in the Institutional Care of Older Adults) a 3-year NHS research initiative."
