SECAmb hosts leadership workshop

Press release - 3 February 2010

South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Trust’s (SECAmb) Black, Minority and Ethnic staff network, Aspire, has hosted a leadership workshop for staff.

The workshop – ‘Leadership is not something that only happens at the top’ – was led by internationally-recognised theatre director Yvonne Brewster OBE and focused on how staff can become leaders within their own working roles.

The event was open to all staff at the trust and contributors included colleagues from London Ambulance NHS Trust and NHS South East Coast.

The event was partly supported by the Department of Heath Pacesetters programme, which aims to reduce health inequalities in the NHS.

SECAmb Organisational Development Manager Pam Fricker said: "We are delighted to have hosted this workshop, lead by Yvonne Brewster, as part of our commitment to providing learning and development opportunities for all our staff.

“Aspire, our BME network, helps us to ensure that SECAmb staff from minority groups are aware of opportunities that are available to them, and is proactive in arranging events such as this workshop.

“Events such as this give participants the chance to think about how they can be leaders within their own areas of work, and so make a positive contribution to the success of SECAmb."
