Equality Information and Monitoring

There are specific duties under the act which require us to publish information to demonstrate how we meet the general duty. They require us to publish information that demonstrates that we understand the impact of our decisions on people with protected characteristics. We are required to publish this information on an annual basis.

In order to have due regard to the aims of the general equality duty, we must demonstrate that we understand the impact of our policies and practices on people with protected characteristics. Collecting and analysing equality information is an important way for us to develop this understanding.

The information we collect ensures that we have enough evidence to inform the decisions we make, enabling us to deliver the best possible services for our patients and working environments for staff. We work closely with our Inclusion Hub Advisory Group (IHAG) and communities of interest, to identify gaps, plan improvements and monitor progress.

One of our equality objectives, derived from undertaking the Equality Delivery System (EDS) grading process in 2012 was to collate and analyse the latest available equality data and information to enable us to ensure we are providing equitable access to care and treatment. To this end SECAmb has agreed a core data set of information, detailing the required information/data, as well as those responsible for collecting and analysing it. The document details what information and data will be collected,  how it will be used and the anticipated outcomes. This is all captured in the document below.

The outputs will run to the end of October each year and can be found below:
