Inclusion and Involvement

We are committed to creating and developing an inclusive culture, this means:

  • Being supportive and flexible in our approach to engaging with the public and our patients in the way we develop our services;
  • Allowing people to be themselves, using their talents to contribute to the way we design services to meet the needs of a diverse population, in ways that suit them;
  • Developing a programme of engagement for particular communities.
  • Ensuring one of the driving principles of how we deliver our service is cultural awareness.
  • Establishing the best approaches of involving the public and patients in what we do.

A new Inclusion Strategy for SECAmb

We are already working hard to include all relevant stakeholders (including those with protected characteristics) in the development of our work. The documents below set out a rationale for improving the way we engage and involve people, and there is also a consultation report outlining what our stakeholders have told us.

Inclusion Strategy -  This strategy was approved by the Trust Board in May 2012.

Inclusion Strategy Equality Impact Analysis - This was carried out in conjunction with diverse stakeholders at a workshop in January 2012.

Inclusion Strategy Consultation Report - January 2012 (consultation process from October 2011 - January 2012).

The Trust’s Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Policy was approved by the Risk Management and Clinical Governance Committee on 8 May, 2014.  Our Procedure and guidance for supporting transgender staff and service users was approved by the Inclusion Working Group on 23 April 2014.

Engagement Survey Results - this demonstrates the diverse stakeholders consulted with as part of the Inclusion Strategy development process.
