Paramedic Practitioner (PP)

Infection Prevention & Control

If you want to influence the care delivered at the frontline then being a paramedic practitioner is the role for you.

Working alongside and supporting community health care and GPs, paramedic practitioners are delivering great treatment to lower acuity patients often with long–term conditions.

Dealing with often complex medical and social issues, you will have the scope to work autonomously to deliver great treatment for patients while also supporting them to manage their own care and treatment where it is safe and appropriate to do so.

Like any role in the ambulance service, your day will be varied and you will be expected to respond and deal with life-threatening emergencies.

Dealing with often elderly and vulnerable patients, you will need to be an excellent communicator, great with people, lateral thinker and a good sympathetic listener.

What are the benefits?

  • A minimum 27 days' holiday each year, increasing with service.
  • New NHS employees from April 2008 will be eligible to join the Amended NHS Pension Scheme which provides membership to a final salary scheme with pension linked to pay near retirement. Other benefits include life assurance, dependent benefits, voluntary early retirement, ill-health retirement benefits and the option to increase retirement benefits.
  • Personal and professional development and training opportunities.
  • Childcare voucher scheme.
  • Salary Sacrifice schemes for cars or push bikes
  • Access to occupational health and counselling services.
  • Access to NHS discounts, offering NHS employees a range of money-saving deals.
